Elevated Cocktails at Home: The Southern Sparkler

Partini 2017-95_croppedA refreshing cocktail enjoyed in the sunshine is one of life’s simple pleasures.  This spring and summer, we’ve been inspired by fruit-full martinis conceptualized by some of our local bartenders! Here is one of our favorites by Grant Kyle of Copperwood Tavern in Ashburn Virginia

The Southern Sparkler

  • 1.5 oz Georgie Peach Moonshine (or substitute Peach flavored vodka)
  • 1 oz pear syrup – recipe below
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice (give it a squeeze with this citrus squeezer)
  • 2 oz bubbles
  • Apple chips

Pear Syrup:

  • 1 cup 100% pear juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  1. In a saucepan combine pear juice and sugar
  2. Heat and stir until sugar is dissolved, liquid should be clear, not cloudy
  3. Immediately remove from heat and let cool
  4. Use desired amount and store the remaining in a airtight storage container for up to 4 weeks

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine peach moonshine, pear syrup and lemon juice.
  2. Add ice and shake for 5-10 seconds
  3. Use a cocktail strainer and pour into a martini glass and top with bubbles
  4. Garnish with a floating apple chip

A great drink always tastes (and looks!) even better out of a great glass.  Here are some of our favorites for martini glasses:

Classico Martini: for a classic, timeless shape

Pure Martini: dramatic angles make this a modern statement

After Hours Martini: a stemless version of this classic cocktail glass
